Safety Management Systems is a proactive approach to safety that was adopted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to ensure aerodrome readiness to comply with local civil aviation regulations. This course provides participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to plan, develop, and implement a Safety Management System (SMS) and ensure on-going compliance with the ICAO Safety SARPs.

As all airports operating under 14 CFR Part 139 will be required to develop, implement, maintain and adhere to an airport Safety Management Systems (SMS), additional information will be provided for US airports following the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposal in a dedicated course on Airport SMS for US Airports.
